Mission Statement: 

Hitchcock Primary School  strives to transform the lives of children by focusing on the academic, emotional, and social success of all students.

What is a Family Engagement Plan?

Family engagement is a collaborative and strengths-based process through which early childhood professionals, families, and children build positive and goal-oriented relationships.

It is a shared responsibility of families and staff at all levels that requires mutual respect for the roles and strengths each has to offer. It is vital that all stakeholders understand the unique perspectives and resources that contribute to fostering a child’s environment for learning and growth.

Family engagement equips families with tools to enhance and extend their child’s learning. Our educators work with families to design or implement existing home educational resources to support learning at home while strengthening the family-school partnership.

The statute states: TEC §29.168 (a): "A school district shall develop and implement a family engagement plan to assist the district in achieving and maintaining high levels of family involvement and positive family attitudes toward education."

TAC 102.1003(f): "A school district or an open-enrollment charter school shall develop, implement, and make available on the district, charter, or campus website a family engagement plan to assist the district in achieving and maintaining high levels of family involvement and positive family attitudes toward education." An effective family engagement plan creates a foundation for the collaboration of mutual partners, embraces the individuality and uniqueness of families, and promotes a culture of learning that is child-centered, age-appropriate, and family-driven.

Hitchcock ISD, in accordance with House Bill 3 High-Quality Prekindergarten guidelines, has created a High-Quality Prekindergarten Family Engagement Plan to promote partnerships between our school, families, and community to ensure successful outcomes for our youngest learners in prekindergarten programs. Collaboratively, we all share the responsibility to encourage and support initiatives, activities, and practices that enhance the success of student learning and achievement. Hitchcock ISD welcomes and encourages partnerships with our families and the community.
